We are very pleased to announce our second tour, this time based in and around Ontario, Canada. From June 26th until July 4th 2017, Ensemble Atlantica will be visiting venues all over southern Ontario, performing an entire program of world premieres by both Canadian and International composers. We are also fortunate to have guest artist, Jana Starling perform with us this tour!
Canadian clarinetist Jana Starling is a nationally and internationally active performer and teacher. She has given recitals and masterclasses in China, Ecuador, and Belgium and has been a guest artist and adjudicator at various festivals in the United States and Canada. In addition to her 2 solo CDs, Inflexion and Mythos, she is involved in numerous collaborative recordings and commissions. She teaches frequently at the International Music Camp (Peace Gardens, CAN/USA), the Interprovincial Music Camp (ON), and is a co-founder of the Lift Clarinet Academy, an innovative summer program in Colorado. In 2011, she joined the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western University, London, Ontario. She previously held positions at Arizona State University (USA) and Mount Allison University (NB, Canada). Her teachers have been Ron Goddard, Connie Gitlin and Robert Spring.
August 19th, 20th & 21st, 2016 – Ensemble Atlantica has recently toured Martime provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, premiering six new works by young Canadian composers as well as a performance of Winter Rain by international composer Diana Rosenblum. Venues included the Wolfville Baptist Church (Wolfville, NS) the Halifax Central Library (Halifax, NS) and the Mount Royal United Church (Moncton, NB).
